Handicapped Bathroom RemodelClick through the photos to view the project...
Before remodeling, the bathroom was inaccessible for the caregiver and her handicapped granddaughter. She was unable to roll the water chair into the bathroom to assist her granddaughter into the bathtub or onto the toilet.
We widened the doorway to 36" and removed the vanity. We replaced it with a wall-hung sink and upgraded the floor with heavy duty porcelain tile.
We also removed the toilet and replaced it with a new higher toilet with grab bars so grandma can allow her granddaughter a new level of privacy and security. Her chair can be rolled directly into the shower area where bathing can be done easily with the hand held shower.
Since this is the only bathroom in the house, it needed to be beautiful as well as functional for the entire household, handicapped and not.
